Aero-ge review: Fureraba ~Friend to Lover~

Hey all! Sorry for how dead the place has been lately. I for one have been super busy with lots of random crap like university and getting my second time application for the JET programme ready. Don’t really know what the others are up to…especially Aedes >_____>. Seriously, does that guy even play eroge anymore? Rest assured that I’m still a hardcore ero-gamer and have finished the following games over the last few months:

Fureraba
Majikoi A-2
Hatsuyuki Sakura
Kanojo to Ore to Koibito to.
Papa Doki! ~Papa ga Daisuki Dakedo, Kazoku Dakara Mondai Nai yo ne!~
Girls Be Ambitious!
To~mei Heaven!
Tsujidou-san no Virgin Road

I finished Fureraba quite a while back and had written like 50% of the review. But somewhere along the way I lost interest and it’s been half done in my drafts folder. Anyway, hope you don’t mind a review on something that’ s a little old ^^

[NSFW] Review – Grimoire no Shisho

WARNING: Another NSFW post. Although this is a VANILLA game (mostly), reader discretion is still advised.

Fuzzy here again! This time, I’m posting solo. You may have seen my previous contributions to the blog as a guest or my name in the comments sections. After some discussion, Aero offered to add me to the team so that I’ll stop nagging him in order to diversify the blog. I can’t promise I’ll post consistently, but surely with FOUR lazy bums on one site, the blog will appear more active right? ….right? <_<
Anyway, as long as there are eroge I find interesting that haven’t been reviewed to death, I will gladly post something.

The problem is…I haven’t been playing anything review worthy! So I planned to do a filler post on a nukige since it’s been a few months since the last nsfw post (<– making excuses). Grimoire no Shisho was made by Astronauts: Alya, one of three teams of the parent brand Astronauts (founded by former Atelier Kaguya employees). Regardless of what the cgs imply, this game is VANILLA. However, there are avoidable game overs with scenes tailored for the dark side. I played all the Astronauts games to date and enjoyed Alya’s debut title Spocon!.

So I expected Grimoire to be another nukige with a fantasy setting, instead I got an eroge with an identity crisis. Specifically, I encountered the timeless issue of how to treat a nukige (or is it?) that puts effort into the scenario and world building. (By effort, I mean above the usual bottom of the barrel standards.)

Magic exists in the world of Grand Esteca. There’s a magic library in the town of Altrium where all books of sorcery are kept. There resides a closely guarded book 30 floors underneath the library: the powerful book of sorcery, Grimoire, within which was sealed the demon who unleashed his fury in a war long ago. However, now he is merely a perverted demon with no dignity whatsoever. The librarian Mihai loves reading books and came upon and became friends with Grimoire. He respected the demon despite his current situation due to his immense magical knowledge. However, one day, someone stole these pages of knowledge from Grimoire and they ended up dispersed in other continents. It might cause a new world war to break out. Concerned about the situation, the sage Maynard ordered Mihai to recover the pages. (Borrowed from Micchi)

Shukufuku no Kane no Oto wa, Sakura-iro no Kaze to Tomo ni

Hey all! Been a bit dead around here lately >____>. I know that Aedes is just lazy, but I have NO IDEA what Aqua is up to. Anyway, I actually finished Hatsuyuki Sakura something like a week ago. Unfortunately Aedes did a review on that like a week after it came out, which took away any thoughts of writing something about that. Btw, the game was great; as expected of Saga Planets.

Back on topic, I decided to go for a cute and funny slice of life game. Enjoy ^^

Shuuji lived with his musician father Yuuhei, but the family debt had gotten to the point where it was impossible for them to pay it off. They had prepared themselves to run away at a moment’s notice, but one day Shuuji’s grandfather Genzou appeared and wanted him to succeed the Ootori family line. Since the Ootori is a famous family which has great influence in many places, their debt would be fully paid off should he agree to Genzou’s request. Shuuji consented to it, but that was not the end of it. As a successor to the Ootori household, he must have a wife, so it was arranged that he be married to his cousin Maria. Of course, both of them opposed the engagement. Genzou told him that he should find himself a wife instead, but he only has one year to do so, otherwise the engagement will continue as planned. So begins Shuuji’s search for a bride at Minami-Sakuragaoka Gakuen.

GEARS of DRAGOON ~Meikyuu no Ouroboros~ [Partial Review]

aquaspirit39 here! How are you guys doing?

I understand that it has been a while since I write a proper full review, but unfortunately, as the title suggested, this too will not be a full review since it will only cover the Chaos Route. After all, it took me one whole week of ten to twelve hours of daily gaming just to achieve 100% Chaos Route and there is no way I am going to spend another one week just to get to the Law ending. Actually, it will most likely be less than that since I have cleared all the sidequests but with May and June 2013 エロゲ out, I think it is a good time to move on to other games.

Despite of my all blabbering at the previous paragraph, I just realize that I have failed to introduce the game that I am going to review, so let me do it now:

GEARS of DRAGOON ~迷宮のウロボロス~ is a dungeon-crawling turn-based RPG エロゲ made by a company called ninetail which I doubt many of you guys are familiar with. As a matter of fact,  this is actually my first time playing their game. Although for those of you who know about VenusBlood series by dualtail, you may have heard of this company which is supposed to be the elder sister company of dualtail. While dualtail specializes on hardcore エロス, ninetail focuses more on normal エロゲ.

Let us get the review started then and I hope everyone will be able to enjoy their stay here, お手柔らかにお願いします。

Green – Fuzzyhobo’s comments

Blue – Aedes’s comments

I would also like to add that all the comments attached to the following images were written up by Fuzzy. So if the attached comment is weird >___>, direct it at HIM.

Aero-ge Review: Love-ressive

Hey all! It’s been ages since I’ve written something for the blog. Real life is partly to blame, but’s it mostly because I’ve been playing a lot of eroge lately. Also I’ve been going a bit crazy with board games and Dota 2 as well. If it’s any consolation, I do “intend” to be a little more active around here. I talk more about what I plan to write about at the end of this review.

Company: スミレ (SMILE)
Game site: ラヴレッシブ
Release date: February 28, 2013

On Valentine’s day, Kaname was confessed to by four girls at the same time: carefree osananajimi Kotora, blonde rich transfer student Reo, baka genius kouhai Ryou, and small meddlesome senpai Mao. They vowed to try to make him love them before White Day. His objections would not waver the resolves of these aggressive girls who are after their man.

Review – Motto Nee, Chanto Shiyou yo! (By Fuzzyhobo)

Fuzzy here again! I summoned the motivation to contribute another review. I played most of Mottoane a few months back, but I mulled over whether I should review it…mainly over the futility of this review. With the current trends in eroge and anime, imoutos have captivated the hearts and minds of many consumers of Japanese entertainment. While imoutos are great, I have always prefered onee-sans…sometimes I feel like an endangered species ;_;. Nevertheless, I think there will always be a market for ane lovers, hence why many eroge have at least one onee-san heroine. So I’m spreading the ane love! Or I’m reviewing a game no one cares about.

When I offered to review Mottoane, Aero seemed to think it was a nukige. On the contrary, Mottoane is a family comedy with a healthy mix of story and slice-of-life. Plus, there are 8 BLOODY ROUTES…and none of them are short. Since that’s a lot of ground to cover, I’ll forgo an in-depth review so that I can at least mention all the routes and heroines.

I had COMPLETELY forgotten that Fuzzy mentioned he wanted to write a review for this game.  He doesn’t mention it for months, then BAM! He emails me with the whole thing >___>.

Anyway, this review here was written up by Fuzzy and I’m just posting it on his behalf. Enjoy ^^
