Joint Review – Walkure Romanze

I recently switched from using machine translators to using Mecab and Jparser to play eroge. As you can imagine, this method of playing is more difficult. However I feel that I get more out of playing eroge this way and I intend to keep using this method. I intend to add a small section to my ATLAS guide to cover this play method after I have used it a bit more. The reason I mention this is because Walkure Romanze is the second game I played using this ‘no machine translators’ method. As a side note, the first game I played was Kurano-kunchi no Futago Jijou and the third game was Majikoi A-1.

Anyway fuzzy hobo was pretty passionate about writing something for Walkure Romanze, so I decided to write this joint post with him. To prevent confusion:

Black text – me (Aero)
Red text - me (Aero)
Green text – Fuzzy

Fuzzy provided all the images that are in this post, along with the accompanying comments that appear when you hover your mouse over them. Along with this, Fuzzy has kindly written up a summary of the jousting rules which I’m sure that potential players of the game will find useful. It can be found at the end of this post.

Greetings all! I’m a long time reader of this blog and other English eroge blogs. When Aero expressed an interest in Walkure Romanze, I “gently” encouraged him to try the game. I still use ATLAS, but Japanese proficiency-wise, I suppose my level is at what Aero’s was before he made the non-ATLAS jump. Anyways, whether I contribute more reviews to this blog in the future is up to Aedes and Aero. So let’s get the show on the road!

The new school year begins and he is soon approached by two female knights requesting him to be their begleiter for the upcoming annual tournament. One is Noel, a knight with a mysterious background; the other is Celia, the student council chairman and the current school champion who has won 2 years in a row. As he ponders these requests, Takahiro’s childhood friend, Mio, somehow ends up being forced into a jousting duel. Wanting to help out his friend, Takahiro decides to become Mio’s temporary begleiter.

Pure Girl – So Pure [But Not Exactly SFW]

So I’ve been thinking about this Pure Girl post for about 3 weeks now ever since I finished the game, but never got around to it until now. Well, maybe instead of “thinking”, perhaps putting it at the back of my mind and only remembering it occasionally would be a more accurate description. I’m just a hopelessly lazy bastard if you haven’t figured that out already.

Instead of a review, this time I’ll be putting little lists of what to expect and what not to expect from this game. That should get the general point across in a concise manner, in theory, I think. I did say I am lazy right. Oh and I’m going to have some fun with formats. Hope it won’t be messed up too badly on your screen.

Ikinari Anata ni Koishiteiru Review

I would like to say that my lack of updates is due to playing eroge non-stop, but sadly it’s because I’ve been busy getting all the random crap I need for the Jet Program ready. Also I’ll be graduating in about 10 days, so I’ve been trying to get random assignments and junk out of the way for that.

The protagonist, Chouji, is your super popular student council president. At school he maintains a perfect image, and is surrounded by the top girls of the school, namely the four heroines of the game. Of course, this is just a front. When amongst themselves, these four girls show their true selves. With the 4 heroines living with him, Chouji is in for one hell of a ride.

Imouto no Katachi Joint Review

What better post to mark the start of a new year for the blog than a review of the much anticipated imouto-ge – Imouto no Katachi!

However, I don’t know if it’s because I’ve hyped it up so much I was expecting nothing less than a kami-ge or the game is just plain bad, either way the game did not fully live up to my expectations. Full of plot holes and deus ex machinas, the story was a mess with barely anything explained. But there’s MeTA and Mayuki! So that wasn’t a complete waste of time.

I found a sentence on a Japanese review that perfectly echos my thoughts on this game: もっと萌えを!もっと嫉妬を!もっと背徳をくれよ!Where’s the moe? Where’s the yandere jealousy? Where’s the immorality? They were the factors that made Sphere’s last Yosuga no Sora such a success, and they screwed it up this time with a frustratingly incoherent scenario. I wonder how much better this game could have been had they suck out all the nonsense story and replace them with pure, undiluted moe.

I’m also here to rage about how damn disappointing this game was. The characters’ personalities are fine, but not enough ichaicha.

First Blog Anniversary!

It’s time for the first blog anniversary! The blog was founded on August 28, 2011 when I suddenly decided I want to be able to scream “HEY I’VE A BLOG!” on the Internet to flex my e-peen and pretend I’m a somebody in the VN/eroge scene since there are so few VN blogs compared to let’s say, anime ones. To tell the truth, that remains the main reason I’m maintaining this blog. Yeah, I’m just a selfish bastard. But if I happened to help anyone in my quest for e-peen, then all the better!

Aero here. I have to say that I’m surprised that we keep this thing alive for 1 year. No promises for next year though =p

If you’re one of the few unfortunate souls who have followed the blog from its inception, you may have noticed the gradual deterioration of the seriousness/quality of my writing as I refined(?) my writing style slowly realizing I simply don’t enjoy writing with a straight face nor am I the analytical type to begin with. So I thought to myself, instead of merely mimicking the styles of the other VN blogs, why don’t I develop one of my own! (I know we’ve all heard that one before). And from that comes the crudely written posts filled with dry humor that has absolutely no right to be funny. But if you get even as little as a halfway grin out of them, I’m content; I like lighting up people lives however much I can. Especially the lives of imoutos and lolis.

We really need something on the blog to point out that we aren’t serious writers. I know my writing sucks pretty bad, and most of the time I write in such a way to make it SEEM like I know what I’m talking about >___>. But I would like to think that I’ve helped a small handful of people out there ^^.

[NSFW] Laud of Nukiges

I know I promised better places to vent your pent up stress in your lower body last time, so here it is. And for something completely different, I’m going to try using bullet points. Less to read, less to write, ain’t it a win-win situation!

This is by no means a recommendation post, as this is nothing more than a crude analysis of my recently played nukiges that I found to be more fappable. As such, this is littered with my personal bias, so your mileage will probably vary.

Ore no Imouto PSP Overview (MAJOR SPOILERS)

I actually forgot about it until recently, but it’s time for the Aniblog Tourney again! Feel free to vote for whatever blog that suits your tastes.

Sadly I haven’t been able to play much eroge recently due to RL factors. Damn you RL >___>. However, I was able to finish OreImo PSP 2 recently, which was fantastic. So I thought I might as well write about both OreImo games. I’ll be doing a small overview of the games and giving you some of my feedback. Be warned. PSP means no ATLAS, so my interpretations of the routes may be quite off. I’ll compensate with my lack of understanding by shoving in tons of CGs into this thing. So feel free to skip the text and just look at the pictures.

Unfortunately, I don’t know how to take screenshots on the PSP. So all images here are from CG packs.

The events of OreImo PSP take place basically after the TRUE route of the anime, where Kirino went to America, but is dragged back by Kyousuke. The game is original material, meaning that it doesn’t follow the plot from the light novels. Nothing in particular happens in the common route, so let’s just skip to the individual routes.

Aero-ge Review: Relations Sister x Sister + More Random Majikoi Stuff

I was pretty overwhelmed by how popular my ATLAS guide was. I’m glad to see that people found it helpful ^^.

I’ll be making a small comment about Majikoi after the review.

I finished 3 games in March: Natsuyume Nagisa, Mecha-con and Relations Sister x Sister. “Relations” is basically the only thing I can write about. Mecha-con got knocked out because it’s a nukige and thinking about Natsuyume gets me depressed again >_>. However, I was talking with Aedes about writing a small fanfic about an alternative ending to Natsuyume. Whether that comes to fruition depends on how lazy I am. Well, on to the review.

Company: エール (Aile)
Game site: relations sister×sister.
Release date: April 28, 2011
Links: Getchu, walkthrough
This is the first game by Aile. Kouhei lost his mother when he was young and now his father who had raised him up has decided to remarry. Since it’s been 10 years since his mother’s death, there was no reason for him to object. However, he was surprised when his new mother brought along two daughters. Suddenly he had two new non-blood related sisters: older sister Kaori, who is great at everything and very popular at school, and younger sister Chisato, who is just as pretty as her sister but has a fear of men. Other girls soon find out about this, including his osananajimi Haruka, resulting in his life turning upside down.

Dousei LoverAble Impression

As you can see, the blog underwent a major redesign, hopefully for the better! Feel free to vent your frustrations regarding the new theme in the comments below, or of course you can declare your eternal love for it as well. My eroge progress has been really slow lately, thanks to the godforsaken papers I had to write. But now that the papers are done with, it’s time for me to jump on the Hatsuyuki Sakura bandwagon! But before that, I want to wrap things up a bit so I can jump into it headfirst without worrying about my post count or the lack thereof. And this is where this Dousei LoverAble impression, and Kaho, come in.

I’m here this time as well XD. Having played the game as well I couldn’t resist giving my 2cents here and there.

Aero-ge review: Angel Ring

So I decided that after how good Princess Evangile was, I would give another game by Moonstone a try. Angel Ring had a somewhat decent score on VNDB and the setting seemed like it had lots of potential for some good laughs.

Company: MOONSTONE
Game site: Angel Ring~エンジェルリング~
Release date: June 25, 2010

Satoru likes the 2D world and loves 2D girls. One day, he took care of a weakened pure white dove. When he woke up the next day, a beautiful girl who he didn’t know was hugging him. Not only that, but she was naked. His imouto Sana comes to wake him up:

“Hey aniki, hurry and get u- ehhhh!!?#!※‡?々♂☆♀!!?”

The game is based around two concepts: ‘love angel’ and ‘angel ring’. Love angels come from heaven to support love between people. They don’t have any special abilities except for flying. They feel a great sense of responsibility towards 2D maniacs like Satoru. If there is someone who loves someone else, but doesn’t have the courage to take the next step, the ‘angel ring’ floating around the love angel’s neck will begin to glow. It helps the love angel realize people’s feelings.
