This is the first title by tone work’s and Visual Art’s 20th anniversary title. Yuuma is a second year student at the prestigious public school Hoshioka Gakuen. It is known for offering a fulfilling school life, but he has yet to experience love and spends his days lacking any satisfaction. He hasn’t made any progress with his classmates nor his osananajimi. All he can do is look at his love interest, the student council leader Midori, from a distance. One day, he saw her with a troubled face. It seemed that the remaining members of the school cafeteria improvement committee had resigned. After giving it some thought, he volunteered to lead the committee. After that fateful moment, his surroundings became a lot more lively and before long, his first love had blossomed.

Aero-ge Review: Otome ga Tsumugu Koi no Canvas

A big thanks to all you who voted for us in the first round of the aniblog tourney. It was very close, but somehow we managed to progress to the next round. I’m glad that we get to spread the existence of eroge to all those anime lovers out there. Please support us in the next round as well ^^.

Otome ga Tsumugu Koi no Canvas is Ensemble’s third game (excluding fandisks). I doubt many people have played their first title, Hana to Otome ni Shukufuku wo. This game had a trap protagonist in an all-girls school, but was done quite averagely.  Damatte Watashi no Muko ni Nare! diverged from the trap protagonist setting, but not for the better. This time Ensemble once again challenged the trap protagonist setting.

Company: ensemble
Game site: 乙女が紡ぐ恋のキャンバス
Release date: March 30, 2012

Shin’s sister is a famous artist who got famous from her paintings 10 years ago. However, after her original four pieces, she has yet to release any more paintings, creating figures instead. One day Shin sees a figure of his cross dressing self on TV being auctioned for lots of money. When Hatora says that she wants to do a nude figure as her next piece, Shin leaves the house for the first time in 10 years. However, he later realizes that he’s still cross dressing.

He ended up in front of the art gallery and a seemingly rich girl Rena asked why he was there so late at night. Mistaken for a student at the nearby girls-only art school Oukou Gakuen, he was taken inside to observe a bunch of paintings being brought into the gallery. Suddenly, he noticed some thieves and ended up getting taken hostage. After being saved by Rena’s bodyguard Chiharu, he thought he was free to go… but then Rena ushered him into the waiting limousine and took him to her mansion!

Rena questioned him how he had known that the paintings were fake and demanded to know his name, upon which he replied Mizuki, which was his surname. With the help of the head maid Akie, he managed to not have his identity fully blown. Then Rena presented him with a school uniform and told him that she had signed him up at Oukou Gakuen after hearing that he didn’t attend school. He will also serve as her maid. How will Shin…, no, Mizuki fare in this new setting!?

Aero-ge Review: Relations Sister x Sister + More Random Majikoi Stuff

I was pretty overwhelmed by how popular my ATLAS guide was. I’m glad to see that people found it helpful ^^.

I’ll be making a small comment about Majikoi after the review.

I finished 3 games in March: Natsuyume Nagisa, Mecha-con and Relations Sister x Sister. “Relations” is basically the only thing I can write about. Mecha-con got knocked out because it’s a nukige and thinking about Natsuyume gets me depressed again >_>. However, I was talking with Aedes about writing a small fanfic about an alternative ending to Natsuyume. Whether that comes to fruition depends on how lazy I am. Well, on to the review.

Company: エール (Aile)
Game site: relations sister×sister.
Release date: April 28, 2011
Links: Getchu, walkthrough
This is the first game by Aile. Kouhei lost his mother when he was young and now his father who had raised him up has decided to remarry. Since it’s been 10 years since his mother’s death, there was no reason for him to object. However, he was surprised when his new mother brought along two daughters. Suddenly he had two new non-blood related sisters: older sister Kaori, who is great at everything and very popular at school, and younger sister Chisato, who is just as pretty as her sister but has a fear of men. Other girls soon find out about this, including his osananajimi Haruka, resulting in his life turning upside down.

Grisaia no Meikyuu + Majikoi S and Getchu Rankings

Hope you guys enjoyed that joint post by me and Aedes earlier this week. A couple of pretty major things have happened lately. Results for the Majikoi S female popularity poll were announced and the top games for 2011 on getchu were also announced. I’ll comment on these at the bottom of this post, but for now let’s get into Grisaia no Meikyuu.

Aedes here also, doing what I do best – trolling posts. Yeah, I said trolling because I played neither Grisaia no Meikyuu nor Majikoi S. But I did play the original Grisaia no Kajitsu!

I’ve written a small add on to the ‘past route’. If you’ve already read this post before, you should just skip to that section XD

I LOVE this opening. I’ve probably watched it more than 100 times. A lot of the CGs in there I would use as wallpapers…if only they were available >_>

Grisaia no Meikyuu is the sequel to Grisaia no Kajitsu. If you haven’t played the original or don’t know much about it, you might wanna skip down to the stuff about Majikoi S and Getchu. Though the word sequel is used, it feels a lot more like a fandisk. Each heroine from the original game is given an after story, which includes 2 H-scenes. In a small section you are randomly given access to 6 random H-scenes which feature your beloved side characters like JB and Chizuru. There is also a section with a number of very short scenarios, which are just some stupid skits basically. The one thing about this game that makes it feel more like a sequel is the addition of the past route.

Only 2 H scenes per heroine? Come on, I’m sure Yuuji can do much better than that!

Aero-ge review: Angel Ring

So I decided that after how good Princess Evangile was, I would give another game by Moonstone a try. Angel Ring had a somewhat decent score on VNDB and the setting seemed like it had lots of potential for some good laughs.

Company: MOONSTONE
Game site: Angel Ring~エンジェルリング~
Release date: June 25, 2010

Satoru likes the 2D world and loves 2D girls. One day, he took care of a weakened pure white dove. When he woke up the next day, a beautiful girl who he didn’t know was hugging him. Not only that, but she was naked. His imouto Sana comes to wake him up:

“Hey aniki, hurry and get u- ehhhh!!?#!※‡?々♂☆♀!!?”

The game is based around two concepts: ‘love angel’ and ‘angel ring’. Love angels come from heaven to support love between people. They don’t have any special abilities except for flying. They feel a great sense of responsibility towards 2D maniacs like Satoru. If there is someone who loves someone else, but doesn’t have the courage to take the next step, the ‘angel ring’ floating around the love angel’s neck will begin to glow. It helps the love angel realize people’s feelings.

Damn, Those People Are Rich

Let my start off by saying that I don’t pay attention to the who the scenario writers nor the illustrators are. While I would like to say that this gives me a less biased views on games I haven’t played yet, but truth to be told, I’m just lazy and never paid any attention to those matters. My brain can’t handle all that information; I’m merely a player not an analyst. I only look at the gist of a story to decide whether I’ll play it, besides, one can’t tell for certain how good a story is unless it is experienced firsthand. But for illustrators it’s less of an issue. Appealing art is appealing art no matter who drew it, and you can see it easily before begin playing a game by going to that game’s site.

Back on to topic now. I’ve just finished Akari’s route in Noble Works, in which the broke protagonist Takumi essentially trades places with a rich guy to protect him. That was one run of the mill ojousama route. Not many words are needed to describe it – arranged marriage, rich people, damsel in distress. You get the idea, nothing you couldn’t see coming a mile away. Is this route suppose to be the featured route seeing Akari sitting prominently in the middle in that picture up there? If so, it is unfortunate how lackluster this route turned out to be. I would like much more interactions among the classmates after they start going out as the character interactions are what make a game interesting.

After reading this route, I still have a question lurking in my mind. Why would a girl fall in love with a random guy from the street? Because thats pretty much what happened, in a nutshell anyway. Well, I guess I shouldn’t expect things to adhere to common sense in eroges, much weirder stuff than this happens. But it’s not all that bad though, the game still has some merits.

To start with, Akari herself is criminally cute, childlike, and gullible. She even thinks kissing will result in pregnancy. And here I am thinking that holding hands will do the same thing. The good morning chu~ is as adorable as always. I also love it that she “studies” doujinshi in order to please Takumi. Too bad her route is a let down.

First thing I noticed is that I can see the character’s backs! The characters turn to their backs when they’re talking to someone else on screen instead of the protagonist, or whichever point of view you’re in. I much appreciate this feature as this makes them look more realistic as they look like they’re actually talking to each other. However important the protagonist may be, he has to understand that he cannot always be the center of conversation. It also helps in understanding the situation as in who is talking to who.

Two lolis in one game. What a treat for all those lolicons out there. I like Hinata the pink haired kouhai better though. This is all purely personal preference however.

Putting those aside, the best thing about the game without a doubt is the common route. Granted I haven’t played any of the other routes, but I’ll just revise my statement if needed later on after I make myself play through 1 or 2 more routes seeing how disappointing Akari’s route was.

The broke protagonist Takumi masquerading as the heir of a big business brought constant laughter for me. I like this protagonist, who is surprisingly not a totally useless hetare like in most other games. He has a plethora of experiences working in places like restaurant, housing cleaning, cafe, nursing homes, and more. This enables him to do any housework and he made good use of those experiences. He is also not the perfectly nice guy protagonists tend to be; he cracks jokes at other people’s expenses but never harmfully. I loved it when he knocked out Hinata for almost exposing him.

The rest of the characters are delightful as well. The head maid who claims she is the best is a hilarious doS; she carries a stun gun and is not afraid to use it even on her boss. The other maid has the wildest delusions whenever she hears anything that can be remotely connected to anything ecchi. Makoto the red haired girl loves seeing and touching girl’s underwear all in the name of the designer that she is. And those are just some of the examples. This crowd make a entertaining game, in the common route at least.

Let’s hope the power of love will carry me through at least 2 more routes, so I’ll have a chance at doing a more thorough review. Don’t disappoint me again, I beg you!
